Reaching Your Goal

When you see someone who is enormously successful, you naturally want to know how he or she did it. Although it can certainly be helpful to understand how others achieve, that's not really the most crucial factor.

For your own success, it is even more important to clearly know what you wish to achieve, and to clearly understand why you wish to achieve it. Once you're absolutely certain about what and why, you are absolutely able to figure out how.

Even before you could talk, you were able to figure out how to get what you wanted. As your knowledge and experience have increased, so have your skills for reaching your goals.

If you're having trouble attaining any of those goals, it's not because you don't know how, or because you can't figure it out. The problem is you're not completely clear about exactly what you wish, or not completely sure about why.

It could be that the goal itself is not really yours. If it's just something you assumed would be nice, that's not going to give you a strong enough sense of purpose.

Dig deep into your purpose and make sure that what you're working toward is truly what you desire. Once you're clear about what and why, you'll know what steps to take.

Changing

There are many things you can change, and there are many
things you simply cannot change. Both kinds of things can
add value to your life.

With the things you can change, you have the opportunity to
improve the circumstances in your own life and in the world
around you. In dealing with the things you cannot change,
you can grow stronger and develop real wisdom, patience,
acceptance, and flexibility.

There is much you can learn from the things you cannot
change. You can use that knowledge and experience to
positively affect those things you can change.

The things you cannot change give you a base from which to
work. The things you can change give you an ever-increasing
world of possibilities.

By gently accepting what you cannot change and finding
positive ways to deal with it, you lay the groundwork for
success. By understanding what you can change and finding
positive ways to put that change to work, success and
achievement begin to happen.

What a blessing it is to live in a world where there are
both things you can change and things you cannot. Each turn
of events, in its own way, gives you the opportunity for
adding richness to life.

The Road can be Bumpy

The situations where you're most likely to make mistakes are
also situations in which you have the greatest opportunities
to make progress. When there's something on the line,
there's something to be gained.

Don't seek to make mistakes, but don't seek to avoid them
either. Seek instead to put yourself in circumstances that
challenge you to grow.

When there's the possibility of making a bad impression,
there's also the possibility to make a great impression.
Success comes from being able to accept the risk of failure.

When you ask for something, there's a good chance that
you'll be turned down. But if you never ask, there's a rock
solid certainty that you won't get what you seek.

By asking often enough and sincerely enough, you'll get the
answer you're after. By listening to enough people tell you
no, you'll find someone who tells you yes.

Make the effort, put yourself on the line, and go for it.
Though the road can be bumpy at times, the way to get there
is to get going.

See as a beginning

As grand as any achievement may be, it is not the ultimate.
Because it opens up new possibilities for even greater
achievement.

That's why it makes no sense to be envious or resentful of
the accomplishments of others. Those accomplishments each
increase the number of opportunities available to you.

Rejoice at the success of others and you instill the power
of that success within yourself. Be thankful for positive
progress and you will become part of that progress.

The most successful people are those who encourage and
enable others to succeed. Truly appreciate real value and
you'll find new ways to create more value.

Abundance has no limit. A life that is richly lived creates
much richness in the lives of those all around.

Every achievement you see, see as a beginning. Appreciate
