There are many things you can change, and there are many
things you simply cannot change. Both kinds of things can
add value to your life.
With the things you can change, you have the opportunity to
improve the circumstances in your own life and in the world
around you. In dealing with the things you cannot change,
you can grow stronger and develop real wisdom, patience,
acceptance, and flexibility.
There is much you can learn from the things you cannot
change. You can use that knowledge and experience to
positively affect those things you can change.
The things you cannot change give you a base from which to
work. The things you can change give you an ever-increasing
world of possibilities.
By gently accepting what you cannot change and finding
positive ways to deal with it, you lay the groundwork for
success. By understanding what you can change and finding
positive ways to put that change to work, success and
achievement begin to happen.
What a blessing it is to live in a world where there are
both things you can change and things you cannot. Each turn
of events, in its own way, gives you the opportunity for
adding richness to life.

Get Back on Track

Each setback provides an opportunity to recover. And each
time you recover, you grow stronger.
The route to your goal is not a straight line. There will be
many times along the way when you find yourself off course.
When that happens, it can seem like your destination is
unreachable. Doubt, fear and apathy will take hold if you
let them.
The key is not to let them. For as hopeless as the situation
may feel, there are actions you can take that will enable
you to quickly get back on track.
Much of the substance of achievement is in becoming skilled
at making a quick and solid recovery. Each setback gives you
the chance to practice and strengthen and refine that
valuable skill.
Know that whatever has slowed you down can provide you with
a way to move more effectively forward. Quickly get back up,
and feel the new strength you've gained.

Control of You

What upsets you is not what happens. What upsets you is your
response to what happens.
Just as easily as you respond in a negative way, you can
easily and naturally respond in a positive, empowering,
uplifting way.
The biggest problems are often caused by what you choose to
do about the smallest problems. Most of those big, painful
problems are so unnecessary.
Keep reminding yourself that you are in control of you. You
are in control and you can decide exactly how you wish to
feel at any point.
Imagine the power of remaining calm and focused and
resourceful when some totally unexpected, disappointing
development interrupts your day. Truly, you can make the
disappointments not disappointing at all.
Respond on purpose, with purpose. Feel the power and the joy
as every moment gives you a way to move forward.

Consequences of making that choice
Discipline is easier than it sounds. Discipline is nothing
more than choosing, with intention and positive purpose,
while considering all the consequences of making that
choice.
Discipline is a matter of controlling the person over whom
you already have the most control. That person is you.
When you focus on the consequences of each action you take,
on the short term and long term consequences, discipline
comes easily and naturally. Discipline is the recognition
and celebration of the fact that your actions have
influence.
By choosing your actions you can choose your results. By
choosing your actions you can choose the life you create for
yourself.
Discipline is not a punishment or a burden when you choose
it for yourself. Discipline is one of life's greatest
opportunities.
Choose in each moment to exercise the control that you
already have. Live and act with discipline, and create a
life of true fulfillment.
